From the Ground Up
30/06/2026
An investigation involving meetings with more than 80 regional experts has revealed community organisations are making striking improvements to the food system - despite facing ongoing barriers.
The Citizen Advisory Council's What Works Here Inquiries visited Cornwall, York and North Yorkshire, Liverpool and Merseyside, and the North East, and found examples of success in school food, community health, mental wellbeing, and animal welfare.
But a summary report of the key findings concludes progress is being constrained, and identified five main barriers. It also lays out practical solutions that can feed into the government's plan for a Good Food Cycle.
