New report shows growing public appetite to eat more beans

A new report by Eating Better, supported by The Food Foundation, reveals how the attitudes of UK citizens are shifting towards eating more plants, and less and better meat and dairy.

Two-thirds of people are now open to eating less meat, citing animal welfare, affordability and concerns about where meat comes from as key factors.

Surveying 1,733 people, the Public Attitudes Survey 2025 highlights the untapped opportunity beans and pulses present given their health, affordability, and environmental benefits with 44% of respondents saying they wanted to eat more beans, and 62% agreeing that beans are tasty.
