Nearly 100 groups call for action to help eligible children from missing out on Free School Meals

The Food Foundation has partnered with FixOurFood and Bremner & Co to lead a group of nearly 100 schools, charities, universities and local authorities calling for urgent action to help the 470,000 children eligible for Free School Meals in England who are missing out.

That's why we've today written to Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson and Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall asking for those who meet the criteria to be automatically enrolled.

The upcoming Children's Wellbeing Bill offers the perfect opportunity to close this loophole and help ensure children who could benefit can access a hot, nutritious meal at lunchtime.
