Letter calling for urgent review of Free School Meals sent to PM Boris Johnson  

In light of recent developments on current food provision for Free School Meal pupils during Covid-19 school closure, we are calling on the Government to conduct an urgent comprehensive review into Free School Meal policy across the UK to feed into the next Spending Review. The review should be debated in Parliament and published before the summer holidays.     It needs to:

The podcasts tell the stories of those on the frontline who will be trying to feed the millions of families and children facing food insecurity over the Christmas holidays.

A new report from the Food Foundation that analyses the performance of supermarkets, caterers and restaurants against key metrics finds a significant number do not have any health or sustainability sales targets.  

Following a major public campaign, the Government has announced a significant funding package to help alleviate child food poverty. The #endchildfoodpoverty campaign led by Marcus Rashford MBE shows the importance of listening to children and vulnerable families who have shared their experiences of food poverty, to increase awareness and inform Government policy.
