Bang in Some Beans: A new recipe for school food

What if every child had access to a school meal that fuels concentration, boosts their fibre and protein intake and doesn't break the bank?

Chef Melissa Hemsley explores whether beans could be the missing ingredient as new school food standards are rolled out across the country in the opening episode of our new Bang in Some Beans podcast series.

Joining her are chefs Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Shivi Ramoutar, FEED co-founder and University of Exeter academic Dr Fatma Sabet, and coach Mohammed Uddin, who takes us inside a bean cupcake workshop with the toughest critics of all - primary school children.

  • Presented by chef Melissa Hemsley, the seven-part series is part of a campaign, by The Food Foundation and Veg Power, to get the UK eating more beans. New episodes land every Tuesday, subscribe to The Food Foundation podcast to ensure you don't miss out.
