Alt text, or alternative text, is a brief description of an image that makes your content accessible to everyone, including those using screen readers. It conveys the essence of the image to visually impaired users, helping them understand visual content through text.

For Social Media:

  • X: After uploading an image, click on it to access the "Add description" option where you can enter your alt text.

  • Facebook: Add your image to a post, click on it, and then select "Edit Alt Text" from the options.

  • Instagram: Instagram doesn’t currently allow for custom alt text during upload, but it provides automatic image descriptions which you can edit.

By including alt text, you make your content more accessible to people with visual impairments and improve overall web usability.
