We join launch of Health Equals campaign

Health Equals campaign launch

We've joined a coalition of 27 organisations calling for the next government to fix stark health inequalities across the country.

Health Equals launched the Let’s Make Health Equal campaign at London's Southbank Observation Point yesterday using images of babies across the UK to highlight the fact where you are born can cut your life short by up to 16 years.

The Food Foundation's Policy and Advocacy Manager Shona Goudie and Citizen Engagement Manager Lucy Heyderman where among several partner organisations attending and made videos highlighting the postcode lottery and potential solutions.

The campaign aims to highlight the impact that quality homes that are warm and safe, stable jobs, nutritious food, social connections, neighbourhoods with green space and clean air can have in creating a better future for everyone.

Some of our Food Ambassadors shared their lived experiences of health inequalities in support of the campaign, including 16-year-old Laiba who talked about the impact of financial stress and Rushda, 15, who stressed the importance of education for a child's health and well-being.

As part of the campaign, our Citizen Engagement Manager Lucy Heyderman and Food Ambassador Ruwaad were present as campaigners handed in a petition to 10 Downing Street calling for the new government to commit to tackling health inequalities on July 18.
