Covid-19 – an opportunity or a crisis for food system transformation at the city level?

Thu, 25 June 2020
10:00 - 11:30

Over the past three years, the Food Foundation has been facilitating a learning partnership between Birmingham, UK, and Pune, India. This involves the development of policies and practices to support city led transformation of food systems. The Food Foundation has recently secured additional funding to expand this partnership across Commonwealth Cities.

During this webinar, city officials from Birmingham, UK, and Pune, India, discuss radical approaches to implementing city-wide emergency food programmes during lockdown. Both local governments commissioned trusted, voluntary sector organisations to rapidly procure and supply food across the city to communities in need. The webinar also includes a discussion of the food system challenges faced by both cities as they exit lockdown and enter an uncertain future.
