MP Briefing: The Government's Food Strategy

Sustain and The Food Foundation have written a joint briefing for MPs on the Government's Food Strategy.

On 13 June 2022 the Government published its new Food Strategy. Though the Strategy makes a number of new policy commitments, it does not match the breadth of ambition which was shown in Henry Dimbleby’s independent National Food Strategy review (NFS).  The NFS was the result of two years of intensive analysis and consultation, and included a set of 14 recommendations which spanned the full range of issues facing the food system.

This briefing reflects on progress that has been made against those 14 recommendations, and the need for further action from Government to ensure that policy making on food becomes more future-focussed and is tackled coherently across Government.
