Hostile Environment - Immigration Policy and Food Insecurity in the UK

The Food Foundation is conducting a three-year project called ‘Changing the Story of Dietary Inequality’, which aims to re-shape the public narrative, develop evidence and inspire action from policymakers on dietary inequalities in children across the UK. As part of this project, the University of Hertfordshire research team were commissioned to carry out a study, focusing on families with children who have No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) conditions attached to their immigration status. The research sought to highlight the challenges being experienced by families in affording and accessing food, examine the role of support services, and offer potential solutions for local authorities and government to address any shortcomings.
