Our food system is 'setting parents up to fail'

The Food Foundation's Executive Director Anna Taylor gave evidence at the first public evidence session of the House of Lords Food, Diet and Obesity Committee.

She was called as an expert witness alongside Fran Bernhardt, Commercial Determinants of Health co-ordinator at Sustain and Kate Jenner, director of Obesity Health Alliance.

They spoke about a range of issues facing citizens when it comes to eating a healthy diet such as the barriers to breastfeeding and how the food industry markets food to children.

The committee was set up in January to consider the role of ‘ultra-processed foods’ and foods high in fat, salt and sugar, in a healthy diet and tackling obesity.
