The Food Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of Anna Taylor OBE as its first Executive Director.

Anna will join us at the beginning of June from the Department for International Development where for the past 5 years she has led their policy team on nutrition and supported the delivery of the UK’s global commitments to tackle under nutrition. Before joining DFID Anna worked for a number of international organisations including Save the Children and UNICEF and has been at the forefront of international leadership on nutrition for several years. Anna has also worked for the UK Department of Health and was awarded an OBE for her work to address the global burden of under nutrition.

Commenting on her appointment Anna said “I am very excited to be joining the Food Foundation and look forward helping it become an important new voice in the debate about our food system, and particularly its impact on the poorest consumers”.

Laura Sandys, Chair of the Food Foundation trustees said “I am thrilled that Anna is joining the Food Foundation. Our food system is approaching crisis point and there has never been a more important time to find innovative solutions to those challenges. Anna brings with her a wealth of valuable experience and we are incredibly excited about the potential for the Foundation to contribute to improving the UK food system under her leadership”.

The Food Foundation is an independent organisation that aims to address the challenges facing the UK food system and shape food policies that are better for consumers, their well-being and the food system as a whole. With 1 in 5 families now living in food poverty we want to promote a greater public understanding of the food system; bring people together to learn, share knowledge and debate, with the aim of creating solutions that the government and the private sector can implement.
