Following on from our first report, Force Fed, which found that fruit and vegetable consumption has been declining in Britain, the Food Foundation is working on a project with Nourish Scotland and WWF to reverse this trend, with a special focus on vegetables. We will be engaging with both businesses and government, in order to identify potential supply chain and policy levers which can address the supply side barriers to veg consumption. The aim of the project is to collaborate with a range of actors and stakeholders from different parts of the supply chain, with a view to improving the availability, convenience, affordability and quality of fresh vegetables and vegetable-based options in retail and foodservice outlets. We are hoping to secure commitments around these improvements from industry and government at a major summit in 2017.
